Culinary matcha allows you to enjoy all of the benefits and flavor of matcha at a more affordable price. Here’s a dynamite recipe for an incredible culinary matcha angel cake that will make your toes curl.
- 2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 tsp. Matcha Zen Culinary Matcha
- 1/4 cups white sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
For the Frosting
- 1 1/4 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 2 tsp. Matcha Zen Culinary Matcha
- 2 tblsp. butter, softened
- 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tsp. milk
For the Cake
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease three nine-inch round pans and sprinkle with flour. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, and culinary matcha.
Beat together sugar, oil, and eggs until smooth (about 4 minutes). Stir in vanilla. Slowly add the flour mixture alternately with the yogurt, mixing just until incorporated. Pour into pans and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 30 minutes.
Culinary Matcha Frosting
Sift together confectioners’ sugar and culinary matcha. Add butter, cream cheese, vanilla and milk. Beat until smooth and creamy. Place one cake on the serving platter and spread frosting over the top. Repeat with the other two cakes leaving enough frosting for the top layer and sides.
