Hang on to your hat! This matcha ginger tea is a hot, spicy mama, but it will stop a cold, viral or bacterial infection in its tracks and have it begging for mercy before your cup is empty. Both turmeric and ginger boost your immune system and get your metabolism going. Curcumin is the magic ingredient in turmeric that helps it to detox and boost immunity, but much of the curcumin that is ingested gets metabolized before it can get absorbed. That’s where the black pepper comes in—it contains piperine which makes curcumin more bioavailable.
What you need:
- 2-inch nub of ginger
- 2 cups of water
- 1 teaspoon honey
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric
- Pinch of black pepper
Peel and cut the ginger into small cubes. In a small pot, bring the water to the boil, add the ginger and allow to simmer for 15 minutes. This will make twice as much as you nee, so keep your extra ginger in the fridge for another cup later on.
Pour the ginger tea into a small teacup, add the rest of the ingredients and drink it down. Turmeric settles quickly, so you may want to leave that last sip in the cup!
